Spike Detection Methodology
How LinkSource.app identifies volume anomalies
Scan universe
We scan approximately 150 tokens ranked by 24-hour trading volume via CoinGecko. Data refreshes every 60 seconds on the free tier and every 15 seconds for premium members.
Vetted mover filters
- Minimum market cap: $10,000,000
- Minimum volume signal: 100%+ estimated volume change
- Major market symbols are shown separately and excluded from the spike list to reduce duplication
Volume signal score
We compute an estimated volume signal score(displayed as "Vol signal" on cards) from:
- Volume-to-market-cap ratio:
(24h volume ÷ market cap) × 100 - Price momentum:
|24h price change %| × 1.5
The score is nota literal hour-over-hour volume delta — CoinGecko's free tier does not expose hourly baselines. Severity labels apply thresholds to this score plus 24h USD volume.
Severity labels
| Label | Vol signal | 24h volume (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| CRITICAL SPIKE | ≥ 500% | ≥ $50M |
| HIGH VOLUME | ≥ 300% | ≥ $25M |
| VOLUME ALERT | ≥ 100% | — |
Major markets
The top 8 tokens by market cap from our blue-chip basket (BTC, ETH, SOL, and peers) are always visible for context. These carry a MAJOR label and chart-first CTAs.
Feed delay
- Free: 15-minute delayed timestamps
- Premium:Real-time (target data age < 90 seconds)
